Policies
We encourage you to read this page in its entirety before studying online or training in person with Paul.Â
Privacy
Paul Cavel and The Tai Chi Space Team endeavour to offer you the best training experience, which requires collecting and storing some data about students. We treats student information as we would want our own data treated, considering it to be strictly confidential.
Â
What We Collect and Why We Collect It
Paul Cavel/The Tai Chi Space receives contact details for students who:
- Fill in hard-copy registration and waiver release forms ahead of courses or online lessons, or enter details into an email sign-up form via this website. Waiver forms include boxes for opting out of communications via email, phone and/or post. And, although your name is requested in email sign-up forms, you can provide initials only.
- Provide contact details in writing, or via phone/text or email.
- Provide contact details when purchasing a product authored or created by Paul Cavel with his publishers, Energy Arts, Inc. and The Tai Chi Space LLC.
Paul Cavel/The Tai Chi Spaces uses your name, email address and postal address to notify you of blog posts, product releases and upcoming courses. We may use your phone number to let you know if a class must be cancelled or travel routes are blocked, or to coordinate arrivals/departures on retreat. We do not employ telemarketing and we rarely send hard-copy mailings. Typically we send one email per week, usually to notify students of new free content.
Details of the courses you attend and the products or services you purchase are stored via encrypted online accounting software; this information includes the amount paid or credited and the payment type. We do not retain details of your bank account when you transfer funds; we do retain details of your account if you provide it for a refund for the period of one year (only for the purposes of proof of funds sent and for follow-up, if needed).
If you write about any health issues on your registration form, the information provided is stored in hard-copy format and stored under lock and key (only accessible to Paul and his assistants). Emails are saved with double password protection. His assistants may communicate via email internally with Paul about health issues ahead of any private or live training to ensure he offers the safest and most effective training. Paul also writes very brief notes after every course and private session, which may include references to health issues, as relevant. These are also stored under lock and key.
While photos and videos of students are not specifically taken without their prior knowledge and consent, from time to time photos or film recordings (including audio) of Paul and/or his teaching assistants may include you. We always notify you if photos or audio/video might be taken and first ask for your consent in writing. Following courses, media is copied and saved on external hard drives and deleted from the device and/or internal/external storage. Hard drives are password protected and kept under lock and key.
Paul Cavel/The Tai Chi Space LLC does not share your personal data with any third parties without your explicit permission.

As our courses are hosted by venues that we rent and do not have ultimate control over, we may need need to change venues in rare cases. In the event this occurs, we will:
- Seek to secure a new venue as close to the former venue as possible.
- Update the webpage with the new venue information.
- Notify all students who have booked of the change.
- Offer a refund if the change of venue affects the student’s ability to attend the course.
You will only receive an email notification about any venue or other course updates if you are booked with us.

Online Courses
You will create a TTCS personal account at checkout on paulcavel.com to access your online course(s).
Online courses are categorised in two ways:
- One-time payment
- Subscription auto-billed every 28 days (i.e. per module).
Â
One-time Payment
No Set Expiration
Online courses purchased with a one-time payment will remain in your account to stream and download for as long as your TTCS account is active plus one year. There is no set expiration date; however, TTCS reserves the right to discontinue offering a course for any reason after the period of one year. We will send an email notification in this case.
Â
Subscriptions
Limited Access
Membership courses, which are auto-billed by module every 28 days, will remain in your account to stream and download only for as long as your subscription is active. You may cancel at any time; however your content will no longer be available after cancellation. You are highly encouraged to download your videos as you go. We will NOT be able to grant access to course videos after cancellation for any reason.
Â
Payment
Bank payments are NOT accepted for subscriptions — you must use the sign up button on the associated webpage and pay by bank/credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay at checkout.
You may cancel subscriptions at any time via your account or by emailing us. Please allow up to three (3) business days (Monday-Thursday, Pacific Time) for Paul's Team to respond to cancellation requests.
Cancellation is effective from the point of the request (plus up to three business days per the conditions stated in the paragraph above), or the point at which you cancel your subscription in your account.
Back-dated refunds are not permitted. Subscription service is for access to Paul’s content and is NOT based on usage, or whether or not it is streamed, downloaded or both during an active subscription.
Please keep your credit card details current in your online account to avoid interruptions to your service or price increases based on current rates. All reinstated subscriptions are subject to current rates.
Â
Sharing
Course sharing is NOT permitted due to copyright protection and in order to keep your account safe. Anyone who logs into your account with your password will be able to access and make changes to your payment and contact details.
Please keep your password private and do not share it with anyone. If you feel your account details have been compromised, change your password immediately and notify us.
Paul Cavel/The Tai Chi Space reserves the right to cancel and block your account at any time for any reason — including but not limited to poor conduct in the Member area or public forums of any nature (online, in writing, in person, etc.), harassment or abusive treatment in any form of TTCS staff, assistants or agents, and unauthorised sharing of private, paid content. No refunds will be offered in this case.
Â

While we do our best to offer technical support in the rare cases that it is needed, unless we experience a systemic issue, technical issues will be the subscriber's/user's responsibility to resolve. We do not issue refunds if you have a technical issue that is not a direct result of systematic failures beyond our control to resolve.
Keeping your software and apps updated, and checking that they are not blocking features necessary for paulcavel.com to provide its service is the subscriber's/user's sole responsibility.

In-person Course Rules
Paul prefers to keep his courses informal. However, there are a few rules to which he asks all students to adhere for a positive and respectful learning environment.
By booking a course with Paul, you acknowledge and agree to the following guidelines:
- All participants will be required to sign a waiver release. Paul’s crew will photograph and film portions of some classes which might be used for the purposes of marketing. Do not volunteer for demonstrations or sit towards the front if you do not wish to be on camera.
- No media recording of any kind is permitted during class, whether audio, video, photographic or any combination of any of these. Paul does NOT give permission to record him or attendees in any format for any purposes – even for personal use – without his expressed written consent.
- No children or minors under the age of 18 are permitted in the training area.
- Smoking is not permitted in the training area.
- As some people suffer from allergies, Paul asks that students do not wear scented products, such as perfume, cologne or fragrant soaps/lotions, when attending class. These products also dull the senses and can interfere with the process of opening up your awareness, especially to subtle changes.
- When the class finishes, Paul is no longer available for questions. He will make every effort to answer questions that relate to the course subject during class hours.
- Any student who defaces or damages property, whether intentional or unintentional, will be responsible for repair and/or replacement, including any fees required.
