This three-part course is designed to teach therapists of all backgrounds the “gentle persuasion” methodology to build therapist-client trust, facilitate healing, and improve personal care to prevent burnout and increase practice longevity.
On Fridays, massage and soft tissue therapists will learn practical and pragmatic hands-on techniques to:
- Open up a client’s body and increase blood flow to receive treatment.
- Ease physical, emotional and mental tension.
- Improve posture for both therapists and clients, including holding positions for therapists to minimise output and maximise results.
- Go beyond technique alone and feel into another person’s body.
On Saturdays, massage therapists will learn therapeutic internal exercises to feel, contact and release tension in their own body to apply before, during and after treatment sessions for personal care. If a therapist is in a compromised state of health, the effectiveness of their treatment will also be compromised. However, caring for oneself as a therapist is particularly challenging because of the load many therapists take on for their clients, who are often affected emotionally and/or mentally by the physical ailments and pain they experience. As all therapists know well, if injuries or imbalances are not properly treated, they become further bound in the system and become even more complex to address.
In the last 20 years, I have trained thousands of students worldwide. I have found that bodyworkers and massage therapists tend to be some of the more tense people I encounter. Many experience low-grade burnout, tense muscles–especially in the neck, shoulders and lower back–and carry an immense emotional-mental load for their clients. My goal is to teach therapists quick, easy and practical therapeutic techniques they can use throughout their day to keep themselves healthy, prevent burnout and release the tension and load they pickup from their clients. –Paul Cavel
In August and December, courses will focus on progressing and deepening techniques learned in the previous course(s) to ensure therapists can effectively incorporate aspects of the gentle persuasion methodology in their practice with confidence.
