Five Element Qi Gong for Health, Healing & Stress Relief

Five Element practices have been a bedrock of traditional energy arts training in the Water method for millennia, allowing practitioners to connect to and draw upon vast stores of energy from the environment and deep within themselves for health and vitality. Cultivating this deep connection to yourself and your environment not only generates harmony within your own being, but also your relationships with others and the natural world in which you live.

In this two-day course, Paul will focus on techniques to generate sung, or deep relaxation, which is an aspect of the Water Element. Water energy embodies the cleansing principle, which initiates the downward flow of energy, clearing blockages and initiating the root.

Bending and stretching exercises break the habitual tensing of the body’s soft tissues (muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments), an aspect of the Wood Element. Wood energy embodies the expansion principle, which combines the upward and downward flows of energy to create more internal space.

Together, the practices associated with the Water and Wood Elements allow a practitioner to enter into the realm of energy arts training.

What You Will Learn

The specific exercises Paul will teach, along with subsidiary qi-energy techniques, to create sustainable healing, vibrant health and well-being in body and mind are:

  • Standing & Sinking Energy – to improve posture and initiate the downward flow of energy to cleanse the body and clear the mind.
  • Breathing – to release the nerves, massage the internal organs, and increase blood and qi-energy circulation.
  • Spinal Opening – techniques to gently open the spine, connect the limbs to the spine and improve nerve flow.
  • Cloud Hands – an internal exercise for deeply engaging and integrating the physical body on the horizontal plane of motion.
  • Tai Chi’s Opening Form – a single, repetitive internal exercise for deeply engaging and integrating the physical body on the vertical plane of motion.

Working with the horizontal and vertical planes of motion together is what allows deeper access to your insides, where exercise can become truly internal and therapeutic. It also forms the basis for circularity and eventually spherical motion in the internal arts, such as tai chi and bagua.

New & Beginning Students Welcome

Places available!

  • Beginners are welcome. Those who attend both days will learn how to train each of the five exercises as stand-alone practices, or as a complete set to supercharge your core energy and strengthen mind-body integration.
  • Existing energy arts students will receive personal corrections and feedback on training deeper nei gong techniques that ultimately manifest and morph the five exercises.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certificates available on request (7 hours training).
